    According the Iraqi Communications and Media Commission there are now approximately 23 million mobile phone subscribers in the country. The Iraqi Minister of Communications H.E. Mohammed T Allawi stated "the ministry will aim to boost fixed-line phone penetration and internet reach to 25 percent within the five years, through a $3 Billion development project and has allocated $500 million to spend on the telecoms industry this year."
