Inter-college Competition on Creating an Investment Portfolio – Organized by ICoFP

  • (1888PressRelease) November 26, 2017 - The objective behind organizing such an event is to stimulate students’ interest in investment portfolio management, to promote the spirit of teamwork and to emphasize the importance of research in investment decision-making.

    International College of Financial Planning (ICoFP) organized an Inter-College Competition on "Creating an Apt Investment Portfolio 2017" at its New Delhi campus on 10th November 2017. The participants were commerce graduates from Delhi University Colleges such as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Zakir Hussain, Hindu College, Maharaja Agrasen and Shivaji College along with their Faculty members. The jury members included Ms. Shikha Bhatnagar, AVP- Private Banking, Bajaj Capital Ltd. and Mr. Vinod Kaul, IIM A & Ex FDCI Director. The total number of students participated from various colleges were 37 and seven teams were formed comprising of 5-6 members each.

    Each team in the competition was given a case and had to analyze the case by creating an investment portfolio keeping in view the financial goals and prioritizing them. The teams were evaluated on their management of the investment portfolio according to their adherence to a chosen investment strategy, rationale for securities selection, compliance with the competition's guidelines and portfolio return. Winners were awarded with a trophy and winning certificates by Ms. Vani Bajaj, Chief Mentor, ICoFP. It was really a great learning platform for all the participants which successfully made them learn the importance of Financial Planning(http://www.icofp.org/) in today's world.

    Members of the winning team of the competition were Ashutosh Jajodia (Keshav Maha Vidyalaya), Aanchal Gupta (IP College for Women), Anupama Sharma (IP College for Women), Piyush Gupta (Shivaji College), Shreya (Maharaja Agrasen College), Manmeet Kaur (Maharaja Agrasen College)

    The 1st runner up team was from Zakir Hussain College and the team members were Prashant Kansal, Alish Gurung, Parveen Singh, Pramod and Mohd. Khalid Hussain.
