Intelliware Supports Local Students, Creates Scholarship at Parkdale Collegiate
Leading software development company awards scholarship to two students at Parkdale Collegiate Institute.
- (1888PressRelease) July 10, 2012 - Toronto, Canada - On Thursday, June 27th, Intelliware Development Inc. presented two bright young students from Parkdale Collegiate Institute with the Intelliware Scholarship for Innovation and Leadership. The recipients, Landy Simpson and Avik Mukherjee, were selected from their graduating class based on their academic achievements, outstanding dedication to teamwork and demonstrated leadership as well as their intent to pursue mathematics, computer science or engineering at a University or College this fall.
"With budget cutbacks and a large number of students accumulating debt in order to complete their post-secondary education, we saw a real need for financial assistance," explains Greg Betty, President and CEO of Intelliware Development Inc. "We wanted to find a way to promote educational pursuits that will feed the city's technical innovation - computer sciences, engineering or mathematics - as well as give back to our community. We believe this will be a great investment in the community's future."
Landy Simpson is an Ontario Scholar, member of school's Honour Roll Society and also received the Howard Cable Music Composition award. She is a leader in the classroom and on the volleyball court, and took part in the Eco Club and the Roma Leadership Program. This fall, Simpson will begin her post-secondary career in Computer Science at the University of Toronto. Avik Mukherjee is also an Ontario Scholar and Honour Roll student whose leadership became apparent through his dedication to the school's sound and stage crew and the 1171 volunteer hours he logged. He will head to Ryerson University in September to study Aerospace Engineering.
"These students were selected because they achieved strong grades but also managed to go above and beyond what was required. They worked hard, volunteered their time to extracurricular endeavors, went that extra mile and became leaders among their peers," said Betty.
