- Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) June 18, 2025 - Angela Calzone, President & CEO of Inroads to Opportunities was a recent guest on “Be The Good with Kate” Podcast.
Inroads to Opportunities is a Union County, NJ, based non-profit, social services agency that provides programs and services to individuals with disabilities ranging in age from 16 to retirement. As the largest skills training program for individuals with disabilities in New Jersey, Inroads offers vocational preparation, transition from school to work, job placement and coaching, certificate training programs, day habilitation, and mental health services.
In a wide-ranging conversation with Host Kate Cherichello Tente, Calzone explained the mission of Inroads and the impact they strive to make on the community. “Inroads is a nonprofit that serves individuals with disabilities and those disabilities can range from physical disabilities to developmental and intellectual disabilities to blind and visually impaired individuals. We have a number of services here, probably too many to mention but the majority of our services focus on ensuring the independence of individuals with disabilities. We are there if they choose to have a career, a job, work part-time or full-time, work from home or start a business. The emphasis is on work because work leads to self-esteem, work leads to independence and work leads to life enrichment.”
Additionally, Calzone shared a brief success story made possible through Inroads’ program, “A couple of years ago, we had placed an individual at Home Depot in the area and this person was a greeter. They would check the receipts and make sure that what was in your cart was what you were actually leaving with; he was very good at his job. There was an incident on the site at Home Depot where there was an attempted robbery and this individual foiled the plan. Stories like this highlight how Inroads helps individuals blossom in their careers and discover the light within their lives, fostering confidence, purpose, and a sense of accomplishment.”
