"It is a necessity for growing children to get new shoes several times a year but for 20% of children in the United States who live in poverty, getting new shoes just once a year is sometimes not possible," says Harlene Zweig, founder and director of In Jacob's Shoes. "There are health concerns as well as self-esteem issues. This is a problem we have identified in our own community and the shoes we provide allow these children to walk with dignity."

Event sponsor and year round supporter of In Jacob's Shoes, Gregory's Fine Jewelry, will present the Gregory's Fine Jewelry Key Challenge at the fundraiser featuring a diamond necklace. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on a wide variety of luxury items featured in the silent and live auctions including a stay at Ocean Club Resorts Providenciales (Turks & Caicos), a stay at the Green Turtle Club Resort & Marina (Abaco Islands, Bahamas), shopping sprees, fine Jewelry, beauty & spa services, fine dining, golf packages, an array of artwork, the services of a Private Chef, sports memorabilia and much more.

Long time supporters of In Jacob's Shoes, Aleida Ors (Ali) Waldman and "Alligator" Ron Bergeron, will be honored during the event for their service and commitment to local children in need. "They are very philanthropic and despite busy successful careers, they have carved out time to help countless charities in South Florida, raising millions of dollars for the disadvantaged," affirms Zweig.

While In Jacob's Shoes strives daily to meet its mission and goals, it has already impacted the lives of many in the community. To date, more than 45,000 pairs of new and refurbished shoes as well as 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies have been distributed to children and families in need. As of June 2014 more than $165,000 in grants has been awarded to camps, aftercare, athletic and enrichment programs that serve children in need. Assistance has been provided to more than 100 social service organizations, schools, shelters and other charities that serve children in need in Broward, Palm Beach and Dade Counties including Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, Kids In Distress, 4Kids of South Florida, Safe Place, Family Central, SOS Children's Villages, JAFCO, Christmas In July, Broward County Schools, Palm Beach County Schools, Children's Service Council, Spirit of Giving, Boca Raton Housing Authority, Parkland Buddy Sports, Henderson Behavioral Health, Place of Hope, The Harvest Drive, Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, Farmworker's Children's Council, LifeNet4Families, American Association of Caregiving Youth, Broward Partnership For The Homeless, Broward Outreach, Milagro Center, Jewish Family Services, Palm Beach Police Athletic League and many others.

"This event is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds that will allow us to continue our mission," remarks Harlene. "We encourage the community to get involved, we welcome volunteers to help collect shoes; organize collection drives; sort, clean and package shoes for distribution; and assist with deliveries. In addition, local businesses can get involved by sponsoring employee shoe drives as well as becoming a shoe donation location."
