  • Milwaukee-Waukesha, WI (1888PressRelease) February 05, 2011 - Ideal Contractors of Wisconsin, a Milwaukee area commercial contracting company, has successfully been granted recognition as a WHEDA Emerging Business Enterprise (WEB). The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority established the WHEDA Emerging Business Program to encourage the involvement, utilization, and development of emerging businesses in the planning, design, and construction of low-income housing tax credit developments.

The program consists of four initiatives: low-income housing tax credit development participation initiative, supplier diversity, co-developer mentor protégé, and workforce development and utilization.

The low-income housing tax credit development participation initiative encourages the utilization of emerging businesses in the planning, design, and construction of low-income housing tax credit developments. Co-developer mentor protégé pairs minority real estate developers with established, knowledgeable, committed developers who can provide exposure, appropriate training and resources, and experience. Supplier diversity promotes the utilization of minority vendors who are certified by the State of Wisconsin Department of Commerce. The final initiative, Workforce Development and Utilization, trains and places unemployed workers from neighborhoods where WHEDA-funded multi-family developments are being constructed with the goal that these jobs will lead to full-time, permanent employment for these individuals.
To participate, developers must set aside 25 percent of hard costs for low-income housing tax credit developments in the eligible counties. Emerging businesses must contract with developers to provide services for the actual physical costs of construction. In order to be registered in the program, a business must be certified by one or more WHEDA approved certifying authorities.

Ideal Contractors of Wisconsin has completed all requirements for acceptance into the WEB program and has officially been registered as a WHEDA Emerging Business Enterprise.
