ICFAI Law School organizes "Constitution Day" Celebrations

  • (1888PressRelease) December 03, 2015 - As part of the 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, ICFAI Law School of ICFAI University, Hyderabad celebrated 'Constitution Day' on 26th November 2015 at its Campus at Shankerpally Road. Prof. P. Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor, Orissa National Law University, Cuttack, attended the event as Guest of Honour and addressed the gathering.

    Prof. Srikrishna Deva Raosaid that all the students should know about the constitution as the preamble is the key to know the minds of the framers of the constitution. He also explained the goals and aspirations of the framers of the constitution. He further said importance of the preamble is not only of constitution but of any statute and encouraged the students to read and interpret preamble and reasons and statements of objects of every statute.

    Prof. HaragopalReddy, Advisor, ICFAI Group,explained the importance of constitution day and said that The Constitution of India was not typeset or printed but was handwritten and calligraphed in both English and Hindi. The original copies of the Constitution of India are kept in special helium-filled cases in the Library of the Parliament of India. The concepts of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity were taken from the French constitution. The Constitution of India contains 448 articles in 25 parts, 12 schedules, 5 appendices.

    Prof. V. Hemalatha Devi, Dean, ICFAI Law School, emphasized the importance of Preamble and said the Preamble is the key to open the Minds of the framers of the Indian Constitution. She also mentioned that all the goals and aspirations set by the founding fathers were translated into the text of the constitution.

    She also stressed on the point that any discussion on Constitution is incomplete without reference to Preamble. It provides the guidance to the State and its organs. It outlines the nature of the Indian Society as well as the State. Preamble has great significance for the common man as well; the aspirations of the common man are reflected herein.

    Awareness Programme:
    The students of AdvogadoClubofICFAI Law School, conducted an awareness programmeon 26.11.2015 at ZillaParishad High School, Proddatur, Shankarpally, RR District, Telangana State. The students and faculty interacted with the Headmaster,Sarpanch an alumnus of the same school and students of class 8th, 9th and 10th standard, followed by explaining the significance of Constitution Day in India and more specifically the preamble.

It has three constituents namely; ICFAI Business School (IBS), IcfaiTech(Faculty of Science & Technology) and the ICFAI Law School (Faculty of Law).
