  • (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2011 - Broughton In Furness, UK HSBC has appointed Euryn Jones as Regional Agriculture Manager for Wales. In his new role Euryn will be leading a team of nine specialist agriculture managers supporting farmers throughout Wales and ensuring that HSBC continues to meet the needs of their agriculture clients.

Euryn will be based in Aberystwyth and will report to Allan Wilkinson, Head of Agriculture for the UK who said "HSBC Agriculture is delighted to announce the appointment of Euryn Jones as Regional Agriculture Manager Wales, with effect from 28 November 2011. This appointment reinforces the importance of Welsh Agriculture to HSBC. It will be a privilege to work closely with Euryn in the future."

Prior to joining HSBC, Euryn spent 12 years with Barclays as their regional agricultural specialist in Wales and more recently before joining HSBC, as the National Agricultural Specialist providing agricultural expertise throughout England and Wales.

Euryn was brought up on an upland dairy and sheep family farm in north Wales. After graduating in Agricultural Economics he was appointed Lecturer in Farm Business Management at the Welsh Agricultural College. He subsequently held leading positions at the College and the University of Wales Aberystwyth.

Commenting on his new role Euryn said "It is a great privilege for me to be invited to lead HSBC's agricultural team in Wales. The Bank has a long and honourable legacy of providing banking services to Welsh farmers and I look forward to working with my new colleagues to ensure that we further build and grow our relationships with the Welsh Farming Community.

I take on this role at a time of uncertainty for Welsh agriculture as the Common Agricultural Policy reform process begins. But this is also a period where the markets are strong for Wales' major farming commodities. This provides a good basis to be confident that, despite the challenges ahead, Welsh farmers have a positive future to which they can look forward."

Euryn's first two days in the role will be with his team at the Welsh Winter Fair at which HSBC Agriculture has been a Main Sponsor for twenty two years.

Euryn has served on several agricultural advisory bodies for the Welsh Assembly Government and was recently awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Agricultural Societies.

Euryn lives with his family at Talybont Ceredigon and in his spare time is a keen musician.
