  • (1888PressRelease) December 22, 2015 - The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon is the largest outdoor sporting event in Hong Kong, and the 2016 running celebrates Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited's 20th year as title sponsor.

The marathon attracts some of the world's top runners every year, and response to the 2016 event has been overwhelming with organizer the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association announcing in October that the quotas for the 10 km, Marathon and Half Marathon events had all been filled.

The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2016 has also been recognized as an "M" Mark event that helps enhance the image of Hong Kong as Asia's sports event capital. The "M" Mark is awarded by the Major Sports Events Committee and symbolizes intense, spectacular and signature events in the territory sports calendar.

The route for the Full Marathon starts on Nathan Road and travels along the Western Kowloon Highway and Tsing Ma Bridge, West Kowloon Highway, Western Harbour Tunnel and finishes at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay.

The landmark Tsing Ma Bridge - which lays claim to being the world's longest suspension bridge carrying both rail and road traffic - is easily seen from Campus Hong Kong. Campus Hong Kong guests will be able to see the marathon as it crosses the bridge.
