  • (1888PressRelease) May 03, 2011 - The three new hotels are located in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ajman respectively and will boost the existing HMH room supply in the Emirates by 40.29 % adding 378 keys to the group's current inventory of 938 units.

Michel Noblet, President & CEO, HMH, said, "These new signings come at a perfect time when the emirates is witnessing a boost in business. We are extremely grateful to all our owners and associates for their continued confidence in us and hope that travelers and residents alike will enjoy our signature hospitality. Our brands are amongst the most sought-after names in the region - well positioned to serve both local and international travelers."

Among the newly signed hotels is Corp Al Khoory - Al Wasl - Dubai and The Royal Hotel - Abu Dhabi.

Strategically located on Al Wasl Road, Corp Al Khoory is in the advanced stages of development and is expected to be operational before the end of the year. The hotel houses 216 well-appointed rooms and suites. In addition, guests will be well-served by outstanding dining, banqueting and meeting facilities along with all world-class comforts.

Mr Mohammed Tayyeb Al Khoory, Chairman of Al Khoory, said, "We have been working with HMH since the launch of Coral Al Khoory Hotel Apartments in Al Barsha and are glad to once again partner with the group. We have enjoyed a strong association with HMH and this new deal will strengthen our relation further."

In addition to the new agreement, HMH announced the soft launch of Liwa Executive Suites in Abu Dhabi and Coral Residence - Ajman.

Michel said, "We are very excited to welcome guests at Liwa Executive Suites - Abu Dhabi our first hotel in the capital. The grand launch for the boutique property is earmarked in a couple of weeks." The hotel boasts 54 units equipped with ultra luxurious facilities and is brilliantly located within easy reach of Abu Dhabi Mall, Cultural Foundation, Petroleum Exhibition and Zayed Heritage Village.

Coral Residence - Ajman too stands ready to welcome its first guests and is superbly located in downtown Ajman. The hotel features 108 elegant apartments equipped with high-quality features and upscale amenities.

Despite the economic downturn, the UAE remains globally competitive. Tourism accounts for a third of the country's economy. The hotel occupancy rates were up by 7.6 percent in February, while ADR rates fell by one per cent and RevPAR rose by 6.5 per cent.

Industry Statistics about Abu Dhabi and Dubai

Abu Dhabi experienced the largest occupancy increase, rising 27.3 per cent to 74.1 per cent compared to the same month last year according to STR Global.
Tourism in Dubai is holding up reasonably well too. Dubai's hospitality sector is diversified with some 40 per cent of rooms in the mid-scale to budget segments, thus rendering Dubai qualified to benefit from the tourism fallout of Egypt and Tunisia. The emirate's recovery is most visible at the bustling airport and in downtown hotels. Dubai Airports said passenger numbers passing through Dubai International in January rose 10 per cent year-on-year and that international freight volumes were up 3.9 per cent.

However, new supply of rooms presents Dubai's hospitality industry with its greatest challenge. The city has absorbed an extra 20,000 rooms during the past three years, but another 60,000 are planned over the next five years. Deloitte estimates that 20,000 of those will be completed, 20,000 delayed and 20,000 cancelled. The number of visitors would need to rise to about 12 million annually from 9.5 million now to fill the hotels, the auditing company said.
