  • (1888PressRelease) November 25, 2010 - LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia - Hitachi Electronic Devices (USA), Inc. announced today the appointment of L. Thomas Heiser as President and CEO. Mr. Heiser's appointment is effective December 1, 2010.

    Mr. Heiser replaces Mr. Noboru Toyama, currently President and CEO, who will assume the role of Director of Environmental Affairs for the company.

    During his 24-year career at Hitachi, Mr. Heiser has worked in all areas of the electronics business. Most recently, Mr. Heiser served as Senior Vice President and General Manager for the company. Mr. Heiser has played an instrumental role in the development and growth of the display products market for Hitachi Electronic Devices (USA), Inc. both in the United States and globally. Under Mr. Heiser's leadership, Hitachi Electronic Devices (USA), Inc. experienced double-digit growth in sales for its display products. The company also expanded into new markets and established a design center in Greenville, SC where value-added services for Hitachi's LCD products are created and new products are developed.

    Throughout his career with Hitachi, Mr. Heiser has held various positions, mainly within the sales and sales management areas. From 1986 to 2006, Mr. Heiser was responsible for the sale of Projection TV Picture Tubes globally, as well as several other product lines including Color Picture Tubes, Magnetrons, Magnetic Bubble Memory, CCD line sensors and MOS imaging devices. His responsibilities were expanded in 2004 to include product development. In 2006, he assumed the leadership position for sales, engineering and manufacturing.

    In addition to his broad experience in consumer electronics, Mr. Heiser has also worked in the aerospace, medical, gaming and industrial aspects of the business.

    Mr. Heiser currently serves on the Board of Directors of Hitachi Electronic Devices (USA), Inc. and he is a past member of the Board of Directors of the EIA's Electron Tube and Devices Council. Mr. Heiser holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Rockford College. He lives in Lawrenceville, Georgia with his wife, Maryanne and has two sons, Michael and Patrick.
