The book contains bonus material as well as a new cover designed by graphic designer and illustrator Steven Novak (Novak Illustration).

New material includes an introduction, glossary, discussion items, and a map of the Esbjerg voyage from Denmark to Britannia and a map of Anglo-Saxon Britain.

Bernal has also made the special edition easier to read, having rewritten the dialogue for the modern reader.
