  • (1888PressRelease) May 25, 2012 - Summerville, SC - As co-sponsor of the First Annual Claude Martin Memorial Golf Tournament, renowned mid-Atlantic region homebuilder HHHunt Homes joined many in remembrance of local community member Claude Martin. Proceeds from the memorial event benefited Martin's wife, Jennifer, and their two young children.

At noon on Friday, May 18, team foursomes gathered together for a fun-filled day of golf at The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation in North Charleston. A shotgun start at 1 p.m. signaled the beginning of play. Event participants received a golf package that included unlimited practice balls, greens and cart fees, and a post-tournament dinner. Raffle prizes were awarded, as were prizes for "The Longest Putt," "The Longest Drive," and "Closest to the Pin."

Having passed away unexpectedly from sepsis in February, 38-year-old Claude Martin was a respected member of the Summerville community. He was a contractor by trade, an avid fitness enthusiast, the assistant coach of the A League Cowboys Sertoma boys' football team, and a loving husband, father and family member.

"The loss of someone is never easy, especially when it comes so suddenly," said Andy Stetka, area director of construction for HHHunt Homes. "The Martin family is in our thoughts and prayers. As a family-oriented company, we are honored to provide support for such a worthy cause. Claude Martin would be proud of how his friends, loved ones and community continue to rally around his family. It's truly wonderful to see such heartfelt compassion and strength."

In the months since his death, and due to a lack of health insurance, the Lowcountry community has participated in several local memorial events to financially assist the Martin family. Donations can be made to the Claude Martin Memorial Fund at First Citizens Bank branches on South Main and Trolley Road in Summerville, and on Yeamans Hall Road in Hanahan.
