- Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) August 19, 2020 - Yale S. Hauptman, Founding Partner, and Laurie A. Hauptman, Partner, Hauptman & Hauptman, PC., were once again guests on The Small Business Advocate Show, with host Jim Blasingame, where they continued their discussion on long-term care planning.
In this segment, the Hauptmans, explain what to expect from long-term care insurance. Laurie stated, “It's insurance to help cover long term care when a person needs assistance with activities of daily living. Policies are triggered by the need for assistance with at least two activities of daily living such as toileting, bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulating, etc. It’s not necessarily age related.”
The Hauptmans also covered the different roles that premiums and policies play in various long-term care insurance plans. Yale explained second generation policies which are asset-based and, in some cases, an individual can purchase policies with a long term care rider and lock into a price. “With a lot of insurance policies, there are all different features. In some cases there's an additional premium for a rider, like an inflation rider, for example.”
