  • Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) September 09, 2014 - Gospel artist Marcia Love has been singing all of her life. A powerhouse vocalist, she's thrilled audiences belting out inspiration through well-known Gospel songs for decades. She added the title "songwriter" to her resume in 2011. The following year was one of the most trying of her life as she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After multiple surgeries and the healing hand of God, she's now cancer-free and ready to sing about her renewed life through her new single appropriately titled, "Joy." A toe-tapping, hand-clapping church jam, "Joy" is currently being introduced on Gospel stations nationwide. The new single is from her sophomore CD, Counting My Blessings.

"Joy" has a special meaning to Marcia. It's the perfect song to express how she feels today. "If it hadn't been for the Lord, I don't know how I would have gotten through that season in my life," shares the songstress. "You can't go through that kind of experience, know what the outcome could be and then experience the outcome I did and not be joyful about it," she exclaims. "During that same time, I knew other women that had the same diagnosis with the same type of cancer that did not have the same result I did. I am profoundly happy and know that I am a blessed woman of God."

Produced by Roney Jones and penned by Marcia, the new single is a rousing song, a track influenced by her uncle. "When I was young, I remember enjoying my uncle's singing," Marcia recalls. "He was a lover of traditional quartet music; 'Joy' was inspired by him. But because I love contemporary music, I added a 'Marcia' twist. The song has a traditional yet contemporary flair, but it's all church."

Growing up in Durham, NC, Marcia Love began singing at the age of 4. Singing at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church and Northeast Baptist Church as a young girl, she honed her chops within the sacred walls of the church. She sang in the choir and also, with her father, a preacher, at his ministry engagements. Ultimately, she began directing choirs. While receiving a college education, getting married, raising four children and pursuing her nursing career, she continued to sing. She launched her career as a recording artist with her 2011 debut, Jesus On My Side. The follow-up to Jesus On My Side is the 12-track gratitude-laden CD, Counting My Blessings. The first single and title cut made its way to the playlist of Kirk Franklin's Praise Station on XM/Sirius radio.
