  • (1888PressRelease) March 01, 2012 - In the summer of 2011, Kumpas, J Rodda, Samoan Sam, and Bryson Andres met for an impromptu studio session in Palmer, Alaska. This would be their last opportunity to collaborate at the Farm Loop Studio before parting ways. Over the course of the previous few years, they had spent many days and nights writing and recording music in the inspiring farmlands located at the base of the rugged Talkeetna Mountains.

Time was of the essence, so they quickly agreed to see what they could create in a short period of time without inhibitions or expectations. The endeavor was more of a personal farewell than an attempt to make an album, but at the end of the weekend they were pleasantly surprised with the result. Six songs that melted together like the long Alaskan summer days.

Since their departure, these friends have continued to collaborate despite their geographical separation, as contributing members of the cooperative based independent hip hop label, Gorilla Dust Records (GDR). They are pleased to offer this album to the world for free and hope you enjoy listening to it as much as they enjoyed creating it.
GDR brings into focus what mainstream rap has diluted by beckoning the fundamental elements of hip hop and placing them at the foundation of fresh and innovative music. GDR's contributing members currently span over six states and effectively collaborate as a team while also maintaining individual expression and wholeheartedly supporting each other's personal endeavors. This interaction between the individual and the group is why, at GDR, the whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts.
