Tanya Akimenko, an IRS Enrolled Agent and owner of Golden Apple Agency Inc. in Jacksonville, Fla. and Spartanburg, SC, has opened Emerald Tax and Accounting, a new business that provides bookkeeping and tax services as an option for small businesses owners who earn less than $200,000 a year. Akimenko operates Emerald Tax and Accounting with her fiancé, Chase Lawrence. Lawrence serves as president of the company and is a Lieutenant firefighter and EMS professional with 20 years of experience as a volunteer and full-time employee with Glynn County Fire Rescue. He manages and oversees Fire Station 6 on Hwy. 17 in Brunswick, Georgia.
He also worked as a firefighter in Georgia for Jekyll Island Fire Department and Long County Fire Department. Lawrence was born and raised in Brunswick, attended school there, and worked in retail and construction. Lawrence also works as a local funeral home professional.
He followed in his father’s footsteps at their locally owned construction business and as firefighters. For more than 30 years, Jim Lawrence, now retired, served as a firefighter for Glynn County Fire Rescue and owned a local construction firm.
Emerald Tax and Accounting specializes in working with solopreneurs and independent contractors who need accounting, bookkeeping, business, and financial planning. Non-traditional businesses receiving the new financial services include professionals in hair and beauty, alternative healthcare, creative and marketing, photography, social media, handyman services, catering, transportation, fitness, property inspectors, restaurants, and more.
