  • (1888PressRelease) October 16, 2013 - On Saturday, November 23, 2013, Global Communication Networks Inc. (GCN) will sponsor The 100 Black Men of South Florida's (The "100") 24th annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. The initiative is to spread the joys of Thanksgiving to economically disadvantaged families and children.

Since 1989, The "100" , through their Thanksgiving Food Drive, have purchased and assembled "baskets" with traditional Thanksgiving meals for needy Miami-Dade and Broward County residents. To date The 100 Black Men of South Florida have delivered more than 11,000 baskets to families that have benefited from the program. This is made possible through partnerships with PUBLIX supermarkets, UPS, and Global Communication Networks, Inc. The "100" serve Thanksgiving meals from as far as Florida City to Sunrise, Florida. This is the second year that GCN will participate in this most note-worthy event helping economically disadvantaged families and children. Aside from the sponsorship, GCN employees will also be volunteering their time to help package the "baskets" for delivery.

"Being both an officer of the 100 Black Men of South Florida and an employee of GCN, I can honestly say both share the same philanthropic and core values when it comes to serving the South Florida community; particularly those who are less fortunate or in need." Says Bobby Hall, GCN Strategic Accounts Manager and Chairman 100 BMSF Thanksgiving Food Drive "I am proud to say that I am a part of both organizations."

GCN is always looking for ways to give back to the local South Florida community with events such as the Thanksgiving Food Drive, Boca's Ballroom Battle benefiting the George Snow Foundation, The Dolphins Cycling Challenge benefiting the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the "100's" Christmas Shopping Spree to give disadvantaged children, who may not otherwise have the chance to celebrate the holiday.

"After providing meals for tens of thousands, since the inception of the Thanksgiving Food Drive, the 100 BMSF strives to do even more. Based on the current economic situation, the 100 is excited about the endless possibilities of providing meals for those in need and somehow helping them to have a Happy Thanksgiving", states Jonathan L Dotson, VP-Operations for the 100 Black Men of South Florida.

The goal for 2013 is to deliver 700 baskets, but with additional funding, The "100" are hoping to feed 1000 families this holiday season. Every penny collected goes to helping those in need. Please click HERE to donate and for additional information.
