  • (1888PressRelease) November 30, 2011 - Gainesville Homes For Sale reports the upcoming "Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration" in Gainesville, Florida. The Gainesville City Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs will be presenting its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration to be held at the Thomas Center from 7:30 - 9:30 in the evening.

    The program is free and light refreshments will be served. The celebration will be focused on the giant tree and around the building holiday decorations - sponsored by the Thomas Center Associates on a year-to-year basis. To light up the tree and give his holiday season greetings, Commissioner Randy Wells will be gracing the event.

    Santa Clause and the local Miss Florida USA titleholders will be present in the celebration. The Duckpond Neighborhood Association will sponsor carriage rides that will tour the historic Duck Pond area for its annual luminaries display.

    The event will also showcase the following musical presentations: Caroling by the Singers of the Reformation and the Gainesville Harmony Show Chorus, autoharp by Jim and Joyce Lillquist of the Gypsy Guerrilla Band, and holiday music on the hammered dulcimer.

    Receptions for the artists of the existing shows at Thomas Center Gallery will be provided alongside the Tree Lighting Celebration. Below are the exhibits that will be showcased:

    Creation to Collection: The 2011 Holiday Craft - to be held at the Thomas Center Main Gallery from Nov. 5 to Dec. 31, 2011. This exhibit will showcase form and function in the fine crafts.

    Gainesville 10: Regional Photographs - to be held in the Mezzanine Gallery from Nov. 19 to Dec. 31, 2011. This exhibit is headed by photographer and gallery coordinator Larry Santucci and will display a selection of photos that portray the beauty, charm and mystery of north central Florida.
