I was just a kid, Turell says. I thought seeing dead bodies in the street was part of life. I thought abuse was something we were all just supposed to endure. My home was filled with fear, and I was surrounded by people who made destruction look like power. But somewhere deep down, I knew I didn’t want to be like them. I wanted something more. Even if I didn’t know what that looked like.
The book, while deeply personal, isn’t just a memoir. It’s a mission. A mission to reach the millions suffering in silence, especially those growing up in poverty, facing broken homes, or battling mental health issues without support.
I know what anxiety feels like when you can’t breathe but still have to smile. I know depression so deep it numbs everything. I know what it means to feel invisible. To feel like your life doesn’t matter, he says. But I also know what it means to fight. And I want to help others fight too.
