  • Ventura, CA (1888PressRelease) November 06, 2010 - A live orchestra, magical dancing mice, a Land of Sweets, an enchanted prince and an ensemble of over 100 dancers including some of the worlds most classically trained, the Ventura County Ballet Company's (VCBC) 2010 performance of the Nutcracker, Nov. 20 - 21, will be nothing short of an extravaganza.

For the first time ever, the VCBC will team up with the 52-piece Ventura College Orchestra (VCO) to incorporate live music into the company's much-anticipated annual holiday production.

Ventura County Ballet has achieved a spectacular production by combining professional dancers with pre-professional dancers and musicians. The VCBC - VCO collaboration combines world-renowned dancers and musicians with budding local artists.

As a Principal with the Santa Barbara State Street Ballet, Victoria Luchkina is lending her talent to the VCBC to dance in the role of Dream Clara. Born in Kazakhstan, Luchkina has danced under famed Artistic Director, Yuri Grigorovich, best known for his creation of The Nutcracker for the Boloshi Ballet in Russia. Having danced across stages throughout Europe and Japan, the VCBC is thrilled to have her back for another year as a guest principal.

Also joining the VCBC for The Nutcracker performance is founder of dancechannelTV, Arsen Serobian, who will be dancing the role of the Prince. After leaving his home in Armenia to move to Moscow, Russia, Serobian began training for ballet at the Moscow Choreographic Bolshoi Academy at the age of 13, only to go on and join the famed company. Upon moving to Hollywood, the dancer had a passion to bring respect and income to the profession which led him to create dancechannelTV.

Performances are on Nov. 20th at 2 and 7 p.m. and Nov. 21st at 2 p.m. at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, 800 Hobson Way in Oxnard.

Tickets are $12-$25 general, $17 for seniors 65 and older and $12 for children 12 and younger. A sugar plum cookie reception will follow each matinee and is complementary to ticket holders.

For tickets, call the Theater Box Office at 805-486-2424 or visit the website at www.oxnardpacc.com or www.venturacountyballet.com.
