  • (1888PressRelease) June 15, 2012 - Beginning July 9-15, award-winning comedian Don Barnhart returns home to Las Vegas from his extensive world tour entertaining the troops to headline The Riviera Comedy Club. Showtimes are Monday thru Sunday at 8:30pm.

Barnhart is the grand prize winner in the Talent House/Levity Live Comedy Contest seeking the best in up-and-coming comedians and Don won with the hilarious demo he submitted.

A booking agent will be among those who watch Don take center stage and in addition to travel and two nights' accommodation for the 5 Spot event, Levity will promote Don's work across their social media channels.

There are big plans for the award-winning comedian as the Sideshow Network is a collection of digital platforms, which deliver high-quality content to its online community.

Barnhart will get exposure on the Sideshow Network which includes 30 comedy clubs nationwide, a dozen podcasts hosted by some of the biggest names in comedy, over 40 online properties including Improv.com and TweetTheJoke.com that touch millions of consumers each month.

In addition, Sideshow Network has a social media network of sites, clubs and comedians totaling over 20 million fans and followers.

Barnhart's stand up comedy show combines topical material and delivers it with a fast paced, high energy and animated improvisational flair that keeps audiences of all ages howling with laughter and coming back for more.

Don Barnhart is also a certified hypnotist and Second City Improv Conservatory Graduate and also performs a separate comedy hypnosis show.

The comedian, actor, hypnotist and author stars in the new documentary, "Finding The Funny". The film follows Barnhart's Las Vegas Comedy Class and features interviews with Brad Garrett, Louie Anderson and Marty Allen where they explore whether or not you can teach someone to be funny.

Barnhart is a national headliner and favorite at the top comedy clubs across the country before making Vegas his home 10 years ago becoming a regular face at the many comedy venues in town. He had his own show just off the strip last summer, which The Las Vegas Review/Journal listed as one of its "Best Bets" of 2011.

In 2010, Don received The Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his continued service entertaining the troops stationed overseas and he just finished writing the new comedy film, Freeloader and hopes by winning the contest it will help bring the film to the big screen.

In a recent interview Barnhart noted, "The story is about returning Veteran Guy Derek. He comes home from Afghanistan to find out his wife has been cheating on him, abandoning their house and belongings leaving him alone and broke.

After spiraling downward and hitting rock bottom, Guy ends up homeless living on the streets of Las Vegas. As he sets out to find himself, he becomes the "Robin Hood" of the disenfranchised and finds his way back through comedy.

This story deals with several ongoing social issues of returning service men and women coming home to high unemployment, foreclosures and homelessness.

I have always tried to bring light to social issues through my comedy and find that you can bring a great awareness to any topic through the use of humor."

When Barnhart isn't on the road, he teaches comedy at his studio in Las Vegas.
