  • (1888PressRelease) September 29, 2011 - Building on Frog's international expansion, Warwick Academy in Bermuda and St Ignatius Catholic School in the Cayman Islands are the first schools in their regions to install the Frog Learning Platform (www.frogtrade.com), providing them with a fun and intuitive online learning experience, with minimal technical ability required.

Already hugely popular in the UK, Frog is now being adopted by a growing community of schools across the globe, allowing students and teachers to access all school information, including homework, diaries, email, resource-booking, daily bulletins, school hard drives and timetables from one online location.

Warwick Academy, an independent co-educational school for students aged 5-18 in Bermuda, offers the UK national curriculum at Key Stages 1-3, followed by IGCSEs and then the International Baccalaureate. It has installed Frog to improve the access and quality of education at the school and help maximise its budget by delivering an increasing proportion of the curriculum through the learning platform, such as lesson materials accessed online.

Dave Horan, Deputy Principal at Warwick Academy, comments: "Although we are located on a small island, we are aware of the impact that Frog is having in the UK and internationally and want to provide those same teaching and learning opportunities for our pupils. We are confident that Frog will play a major part in transforming teaching and learning both within and beyond the classroom. In future, we also plan to use Frog to link with other schools in Bermuda, the UK and other parts of the world. This will enable teachers and students to develop their own learning tools and share their knowledge by interacting with the global school community."

Frog has been used to build the I-site learning platform at St Ignatius Catholic School in the Cayman Islands and all students at the high school now use the platform throughout the day. The school has rolled out 350 laptops onto a wireless network, giving students and teachers home access to the school's resources, including Frog. Students are now submitting their homework online for teachers to mark and the school is developing online tutorials to inspire students to get the most out of the platform.

Mick Whyte, Director of Technology, St Ignatius Catholic School, comments: "All students at the school are now engaged with Frog and are benefiting from its flexibility; they are even suggesting ideas of their own to further develop it to suit their needs, and this will drive positive change in the school. It is not just a piece of software but rather a toolkit which we can take with us into the future. The added benefit of Frog is that we are able to host it here on campus, rather than in the UK, so we have full ownership of it."

Darren Bowyer, Head of New Media Projects at IT Outsource Ltd, a Caribbean-based authorised Frog Partner, adds: "We were pleased to provide continued hands-on support for St Ignatius throughout the design, development and deployment of their Frog platform, which proved to be invaluable".

Frog engages students with its modern 'Facebook'-style interface, which is user-friendly, fun and interactive. It has been designed to enable users to easily drag-and-drop widgets onto the platform, which would otherwise require technical skills. It inspires creativity, engaging students with a variety of online tools tailored to a range of abilities, enabling them to reach their full potential, helping to boost their sense of achievement and raise attainment.

Gillian Wilkinson, International Sales Manager, Frog, concludes: "Frog has been proven to add value, save time and money and raise standards, even in schools that already excel. Frog is much more than a learning platform; it is an educational tool to support schools in achieving their long term improvement plans.

"Warwick Academy in Bermuda and St Ignatius Catholic School in the Cayman Islands are fantastic examples of schools which have implemented an effective online learning environment that engages the whole school community."
