  • (1888PressRelease) September 07, 2012 - ECOC is the largest European event of its kind in the field of fibre-optic communications and technology.

The French Pavilion at ECOC, in Amsterdam, in Holland, has been organised by UBIFRANCE, the French-export support agency, in partnership with Comité National d'Optique et de Photonique (or CNOP, France's national committee for optics and photonics).

Located in Hall 1, the French Pavilion will cover 108m² and will host 10 exhibitors. From 17 to 19 September of this year, for the 38th time, ECOC promises to be, once again, Europe's key event in the field of fibre-optic communications.

In 2011, ECOC welcomed delegations from approximately 60 countries, with close to 5,100 visitors and over 310 exhibitors, in such diverse fields as optical components and products as well as optical-communications systems. Together with Germany and China, France is one of only a handful of countries to have a national pavilion at the 2012 trade show.

France has major assets in the market for optics and photonics, with 250 R&D laboratories and 480 companies generating annual sales of about €3.7 billion and employing 20,000 employees (source: Association Française des Industries de l'Optique et de la Photonique, or AFOP, France's association of manufacturers in optics and photonics).

The 10 French companies on the Pavilion will exhibit cutting-edge technology in such areas as Fibre to the x (FTTx), internet-protocol television (IPTV), video on demand (VOD), and voice over internet protocol (VoIP). The exhibitors will showcase an extensive range of products and technologies, including those involving photonics, cryptography, optical telecommunications, fibre optics, optical coatings and laser technology.
