  • (1888PressRelease) January 06, 2011 - The trade exhibition - under the motto: Identité, Diversité, Authenticité - is being organised by UBIFRANCE, in partnership with the Association of Independent Winegrowers of France and with Wine4Trade.

The trade exhibition follows on last year's event, also organised at Lord's (in January 2010). This year, building on the 2010 trade exhibition's success, the Association of Independent Winegrowers will present 85 winegrowers from all over France.

The following wine-growing regions will be represented: Alsace (4 winegrowers); Bordelais (18); Burgundy-Beaujolais (7); Champagne (2); Charentes, in the west of France (1); Languedoc-Roussillon (13); Provence (2); South-West (6); the Loire Valley (16); and the Rhône Valley (11).

The Independent Winegrowers of France are unique in that each estate manages the entire wine-production process, from start to finish, by itself and on site, from the planting of the vine all the way to the bottling and distribution of the finished product - i.e. the wine. The Independent Winegrowers stand for quality in the wine-making process and are committed to their trade; their aims go beyond narrowly commercial concerns, which sets them apart from wine co-operatives and wine merchants.

The Independent Winegrowers share common values that are cherished by trade professionals: those values are those of the terroir; of a tradition that combines with - and is re-invented through - modernity; and, finally, of complete traceability. This last aspect is especially relevant today, and the very way that Independent Winegrowers conduct their trade ensures that the highest standards are met in this respect.

Four themes (or Instants) have been defined, as follows, which will guide visitors through the event on 18 January 2011.

▪Easy Drinking Wines will focus on light wines that are ideal for drinking on informal occasions, namely at parties, between friends, in pubs, and so on.

▪Wine & Dine will, by contrast, showcase sophisticated wines for accompanying sit-down meals, which are, typically, served at table with food.

▪Intriguingly Different Wines will be centred on wines that are both typically French and excitingly original.

▪Sparkling and Sweet Wines will cover a category of wines to be consumed on special occasions or at the end of a meal.

Under the Vigneron Indépendant de France collective label (Independent Winegrower), which is epitomized by the logo and the signature that comes with it, the independent winegrowers' movement has established its reputation with the general public and with industry professionals, both inside and outside France. The Vigneron Indépendant logo and signature constitute a unique badge of quality regarding the wine-making process, for the consumer.
