Four Disabled Veterans Will Carry the Names of the Fallen to the Top of Mt. McKinley, the Tallest Peak in North America
Highlight the sacrifices made by the nation and four disabled veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.
- Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) March 15, 2015 - Loveland, CO - Four combat veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan announced today that they will be climbing Mt. McKinley (20,321 ft.), also known as Denali, in May 2015, for a project they founded, Mission Memorial Day. They are expected to reach the top of Mt. McKinley, the tallest peak in North America, on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015.
All four of the combat veterans attempting the climb, have service connected disabilities from their service in Iraq or Afghanistan. The team consists of Expedition Leader Josh Jespersen, a Navy SEAL, team member Nick Colgin, an Army Airborne Combat Medic, team member Margaux Mange, an Army Military Police member, and team member Brian McPherson, a Marine Infantryman. Despite their disabilities, they have climbed some of the tallest and most technical mountains in the world including, Cotopaxi (19,374 ft.), Rainier (14,409 ft.), and Nevado Mariposa (19,055 ft.).
The team will be carrying flags with the names of the fallen, those that have died in service to the country. Spouses, family members, and community members, can submit names of the fallen online at http://www.missionmemorialday.com/make-a-difference.html.

About Mt. McKinley
At 20,321 ft. above sea level, Mt. McKinley (Denali) is the highest mountain peak in North America. From base to peak, the mountain is approximately 18,000 ft., the largest of any mountain situated completely above sea level. Only approximately 50% of the climbers that attempt to climb Mt. McKinley, make it to the top. Temperatures can range as low as −75.5 °F, and windchills as low as −118.1 °F.
