In past years, festival has brought thousands of people to the beaches of Fort Myers, FL. The Shrimp Festival features festivities, such as a parade, 5K run, pageant, food and craft expos, and the "Queen's Ball". Proceeds from the event go to benefit a number of local charitable organizations.

Proceeds from the event go to benefit organizations such as the Florida Lions Eyebank, Baskin Palmer Eye Institute, Southeast Guide Dogs, the local library, Little League and Florida Lions Camp.
