  • (1888PressRelease) February 04, 2021 - Fintech Internship 20, an initiative by Fintech Saudi, concluded yesterday. 24 companies participated in the internship program in a joint effort to pave the path for aspiring young Saudis to contribute to shaping the future of fintech in Saudi Arabia. As part of the internship program, the companies selected and trained 86 interns from different cities across the Kingdom.

    Fintech Internship 20 supports students, fresh graduates and experienced hires interested in fintech. This year’s interns came from a variety of fields, including programming, marketing, law, finance, business development, product development, data science and analysis, and strategic planning. Their background together with the internship experience has provided them a strong foundation to have a promising career in fintech.

    In his opening speech, Ziyad AlYousef, Deputy Governor For Development and Technology, welcomed all partners and interns that have joined the ceremony virtually. He expressed his happiness in seeing a promising new generation contributing to the future of the financial services sector and reiterated the Saudi Central Bank’s support for Fintech Saudi to develop initiatives that build the capabilities and talent required by the fintech industry.

    "We are committed to developing the training program, increasing training opportunities, and connecting our talented individuals with the appropriate job opportunities in the labour market. We are pleased that so far 30 interns out of 86 have been offered positions in the companies where they interned," said Nejoud Almulaik, Director of Fintech Saudi.

    During the ceremony, both Banque Saudi Fransi and Hakbah, a platform specialized in alternative savings and savings groups, spoke about their experience of participating in the program and the benefit of the program to their organisations. .

    “We believe in the importance of investing in young Saudi talents as they are core to our future prosperity. We were happy to partner with Fintech Saudi during the Fintech Internship program, where we had the chance to train and recruit some excellent young Saudis that are today part of Banque Saudi Fransi.     Fintech Saudi’s Fintech Internship program is designed to provide interns with real work experience that reflect the fundamentals of working in the fintech industry. Since its launch in 2018, the program has been supported by a large number of prominent local and international organisations and has accepted over 130 interns across three different cohorts. Internship periods have ranged from two to seven months, providing interns the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, experience and skills that they need to succeed in the fintech industry.

    The Fintech Internship program is one of the initiatives developed by Fintech Saudi to support the growth of the fintech industry in Saudi Arabia, with the aim of transforming Saudi Arabia into an innovative fintech hub with a thriving and responsible ecosystem.
