  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 04, 2018 - The book is part of a two-pronged campaign by 5Picture Films that includes a feature documentary to raise awareness about the need for a pension and health plan in the sport, and sharing.

Gerald, who is also a partner in 5Picture Films, along with former music manager Patrick Gasper, was quoted as saying, "Not surprisingly, one of the sports that can use a pension and health plan the most, is professional boxing. And we're hoping that with the Pugilistica book and the upcoming movie, we can do our part to galvanize others around this issue, while donating money to the cause."

The production company recently finished a multi-city tour in California, Nevada, New Mexico, Illinois, and Colorado to promote the book, conduct interviews, and visit boxing gyms to deliver their message.

An earlier Kickstarter campaign for the movie was pushed back to better coincide with the release of the book. A percentage of the returns from the movie are intended to help jump-start a funding mechanism to assist in the creation of a pension and health plan.

The movie will be Gerald's second directorial effort, and will feature current and former boxing champions, competitors, fight fans, and anyone that has a passionate opinion about boxing.

Pugilistica is the first of five projects slated for 5Picture Films over the next three years. The comedy feature entitled, Sqautch This!, and the horror feature, The Trail, are two of the other literary titles the company is seeking to fund as part of the slate.
