  • Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2011 - Une Belle Vie, a Denver, Colo. - based cremation urn company, in conjunction with The Morgan Adams Foundation, today announced The Eric Jamali Fund, which was established to assist families in need cope with the emotional and financial challenges related to the illness and death of a child.

In the Denver metro area, more than 240 children pass away from a terminal illness each year and about 60 of those from cancer. According to the in-depth research conducted by The Eric Jamali Fund, more than half of those families cannot afford a memorial for their child.

"We interviewed several Denver social workers and researched local assistance programs and found that there is little or no financial assistance for families who have lost a child," said Melody Jamali, the executive director of The Eric Jamali Fund. "We don't just provide financial assistance, The Eric Jamali Fund has also negotiated discounts with local funeral homes and provides general guidance in planning the memorial."

The Eric Jamali Fund works with local funeral homes to offer services at reduced cost. The Fund also provides financial assistance for those families who need help to defray funeral expenses.

"I see families who lose children and often can't afford memorial services," said Hadassah Wasserman, Pediatric Oncology social worker at Children's Hospital Colorado. "Losing a child is an unimaginable ordeal for a family to endure and when they can't afford a funeral, it adds even more stress to the situation. The Eric Jamali Fund is a much needed and amazing organization that truly helps grieving families."

The Eric Jamali Fund, named after Une Belle Vie's president's son who passed away, is set up under The Morgan Adams Foundation. Currently, there are several non-profits that focus on medical bill assistance, supplemental income, housing for families and fund research, but none that provide funeral and memorial support.

Donations to The Eric Jamali Fund can be made through The Morgan Adams Foundation or Une Belle Vie.
