  • (1888PressRelease) April 27, 2012 - International IT services provider, FDM Group, has won the 'Courage Award' at the 'Be a Hero - Hire a Hero' Veteran's Career Expo VIP Breakfast, held at the Hilton Newark Penn Station Hotel in Newark, NJ on Monday 23rd April. Several notable guests attended the event, including U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg of New Jersey, and Harold J. Wirths, Commissioner for the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Also in attendance was Colonel Gregory Gadson, Director of the U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program.

The Courage Award, presented by the 'Be a Hero - Hire a Hero' CEO Jeff Klare, recognizes FDM's ongoing efforts and commitment to assisting veterans and returning service members to make the transition back into commercial employment. The award acknowledges FDM's Veteran Program as going above and beyond the call of duty, as the firm offers $30,000 worth of IT training free of charge, combined with a commitment to employment.

Brandt Rousseaux, FDM's VP of North America, who was in attendance to collect the award, said "We are extremely honored to win the Courage Award for our continued commitment to get our country's heroes back into employment. As a 20-year veteran of the US Coast Guard, our initiative is something I hold close to my heart. I feel privileged to be helping qualified military members, who have served our country honorably and with great sacrifice, start the next chapter of their lives."

FDM's Veteran Program focuses on transforming qualified veterans into professional IT consultants. Using its unique business model, which combines quality IT training and two years of commercial employment, FDM provides IT enthusiasts the essential skills needed to transition to successful careers in the banking, financial services and media sectors.

FDM is currently a vendor with the Department of Veteran Affairs under the Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation and Education Program, and is expanding its relationship with the Department of Labor Veterans' Employment and Training Service within the tri-state area.

Through its affiliation with 'Be a Hero - Hire a Hero' FDM subsequently supports Higher Ground, No Greater Sacrifice and Warrior Gateway. FDM is also a major partner of Wall Street Rocks for the Veterans, assisting the Wounded Warrior Project and ReserveAid charities.

The award-winning company has over 200 clients worldwide and within the US, a snapshot of clients including UBS, JP Morgan, HSBC and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Training streams available at its Wall Street Academy include Software Development, Application Support Analysis and Project/Business Analysis.

Housing nine offices internationally across the US, Asia Pacific, the UK and Europe, FDM has now expanded its 14 Wall Street office to include two entire floors due to the increasing demand for the Academy and training services. Rousseaux said of the expansion, "We are excited to announce that we will have expanded our Wall Street office to accommodate the fast-growing demand for our Veteran and Graduate Academy Programs. We are committed to helping transition qualified veterans from the Armed Forces to civilian IT professions."
