  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) February 23, 2011 - Simply having an eye for new trends and a love of fashion isn't enough to make it big as a fashion journalist in today's media world. That's why FashionCampNYC is bringing a seasoned, celebrity fashion host to fashiONLINE to dish out expert advice to teens on how to break into this competitive field.

On March 1 at 8PM, fashion expert and TV host James Aguiar will share his secrets to success in fashion journalism with teens/tweens during a live fashiONLINE broadcast, streaming live on the web. Aguiar is the former Fashion Director at Bergdorf Goodman, he's hosted the Emmy-nominated series Full Frontal Fashion and he's interviewed industry heavyweights like Lagerfield, Wintour and Kors. Aguiar will also lend his expertise to one very lucky teen and train Jaclyn Bossen, a former FashionCamper turned counselor from Massapequa, New York. Jaclyn will learn how to become a star fashion host on TV during the live broadcast.

Fashion bloggers and hosts have become the new "it" crowd in the fashion world, and the broadcast will give viewers the skills they need to compete in the field.

"We've found that our campers as young as 14 are willing to work hard to get jobs in fashion by seeking out our speakers as well as each other for guidance," says Gordon Josey, the Founder/Director of Fashion Camp NYC. "They also spend their nights tuning in to our evening chats like FashiONLINE with industry professionals like James Aguiar rather than watching 'Glee.'"

FashiONLINE is just one of the online training programs from FashionCampNYC, which runs a week-long "live" retail fashion training program for teens and tweens in New York every summer. The program covers topics ranging from merchandising to branding to marketing and public relations. The program's new website includes fashion career tips, style advice for teens and tweens, and blogs written by aspiring fashion journalists.
