  • (1888PressRelease) February 07, 2024 - The Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP) celebrates the remarkable successes of the 2023 High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling (HiMCM®) and the Middle Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MidMCM), spotlighting the talent of young mathematicians worldwide.

    This year, the HiMCM attracted 967 high school teams from 417 schools in 18 countries/regions, while the MidMCM brought together 75 middle school teams from 43 schools across 7 countries/regions. Participants demonstrated their problem-solving skills and creativity in addressing complex real-world problems through mathematical modeling.

    High School Highlights:
    • Outstanding Teams: Shanghai World Foreign Language Academy, Shanghai, China; St. George's School, BC, Canada; Nanjing Foreign Language School, Jiangsu, China; and others.
    • Notable Achievements: 9 Outstanding Teams, 54 Finalists, 139 Meritorious, 256 Honorable Mentions, and 501 Successful Participants.

    Middle School Highlights:
    • Outstanding Teams: BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, San Jose, CA, USA; Shanghai American School, Shanghai, China (NCTM Winner).
    • Notable Achievements: 2 Outstanding, 4 Finalists, 7 Meritorious, 18 Honorable Mentions, and 44 Successful Participants.
