  • (1888PressRelease) June 22, 2013 - Dublin based EventWorks is an Event Management company operating in Ireland for over 16 years.. The company engages in a wide variety of events such as product launches, evening entertainment, meetings and conferences, incentive group events, company days and more. Its main focus however has always been team building events as this is where the team can be creative to the greatest extent. In Just over the last 12 months the company has added more than 200 team events and variations of the activities inspired by their clients.

Just recently the company was approached by another Irish Event Management company looking to avail of EventWorks' specialised team building expertise and knowledge. They had a client looking for a team building game suitable for 100 people and most importantly one that would tie in with an aviation theme of the day. Despite the diverse range of events of the company, EventWorks did not have anything suitable for the given theme.

Ronan McCabe says 'Over the years we have run more than 1200 events, at least one third of which have been team building ones. Some of the themes we've had to work with have been quite vague, such as Brighter Future or Every Day Stronger, and many others that were really challenging ones. This time again we didn't have any ready to go ideas but we knew we can definitely come up with some great concepts'.

After a brief meeting with the partner Event Management Company, EventWorks had some more details on what the requirements were and found out that the end client was looking for an event that would have a clear connection to the theme that would be creative and competitive at the same time.

It was Kim Gavin, an Event Manager for EventWorks in charge of Team Building who came up with the idea. Kim explains: 'It is by default a difficult combination having a creative event which is at the same time competitive too. Creative events are normally ones which are organised as a reward for a group and are really just about having fun. So I decided to work off the competitive element and see how we can add a creative edge to that then '

The result was what EventWorks has graciously named Flight to Victory. It is a 2 hour team building event where teams are supplied with a wide range of excellent quality giant toy airplane parts that they need to work out how to put together. It is up to them to construct the wings of the plane and design and decorate it according to their taste. This is the part that gets their creative juices flowing but also requires collaboration and team spirit.

Earlier the teams earned materials to build and design their planes by taking part in as series of shorter team tasks - all designed around the values of the company. More customisation by EventWorks.

In the second part of the challenge the teams' planes are tested in a series of skill and speed challenges and here their creations are tested in durability and appearance too. It is fun, it is different and it is competitive.

The huge success of the event resulted in EventWorks offering the team game to tie in with various briefs and other company's corporate requirements. Since the event was devised for the first time last month, EventWorks has organised two more similar events to the original one with their now customary adaptation to really meet their client's needs.
