ERCUIS & RAYNAUD adds a touch of luxury to French Design Forum
ERCUIS & RAYNAUD will be taking part in the French Design Forum, a trade event organised by the French Trade Commission UBIFRANCE in London on 15 March 2011. The French design specialist combines the passion of a porcelain maker (RAYNAUD) with that of a silversmith (ERCUIS), in order to create a refined gourmet table setting.
- (1888PressRelease) February 25, 2011 - ERCUIS is a silversmith that has been in existence since 1867. Its high-quality creations include silver-plated flatware, silverware, tea and coffee sets, lighting items, as well as table accessories. ERCUIS' artistic tradition dates back to the 19th century and its skilled craftsmanship has been passed down from generation to generation.
Each piece of silverware is made up of a number of elements, which are prepared separately. The silversmith assembles the various elements that will make up the final piece through a process of silver brazing, setting or screwing. The decorative elements, which are often cast in bronze according to the lost-wax technique - a process by which a duplicate bronze sculpture can be cast from an artist's original sculpture - and reworked by the engraver, are applied to the main body by the silversmith.
Unlike many design houses that have taken on their founder's name, ERCUIS refers to the name of a small village in Oise, in northern France. In 1867, the young curate of Ercuis, Adrian Céleste Pillon, regenerated the village by starting a silversmith business. This trade offered silverware with silver and gold-plated enamel decorations.
Today, items designed and made by ERCUIS can be found in luxury establishments throughout the world, such as the Four Seasons George V or the Shangri La in Paris, The Dorchester, The Connaught, The Fat Duck, Tom Aikens and Sketch in London and many other establishments all over the world. ERCUIS belongs to the prestigious Comité Colbert, an association of 75 companies in France's luxury sector, which combine tradition, modernity, craftsmanship, creativity and innovation.
Since the 19th century, RAYNAUD has been a name that is synonymous with the skills and traditions that are characteristic of Limoges porcelain. Today, RAYNAUD has taken on a modern approach, which combines time-honoured expertise with new technology in order to produce a continually evolving series of designs of the finest quality.
Items designed and made by RAYNAUD have involved collaborations with artists from all backgrounds such as Christian Tortu, Alberto Pinto or Hilton McConnico. The company's hallmark has featured on special ceremonial services supplied to the White House (in the USA) as well as to royal palaces in Europe, and across the rest of the world.
RAYNAUD creations can be found in luxury hotels and restaurants throughout the world. These include the Four Seasons George V, the Ritz and the Royal Monceau in Paris, Cipriani in Venice, Splendido in Portofino, Villa San Michele in Florence and the Dorchester, The Connaught, The Fat Duck and Sketch in London.
Bertrand Raynaud, the grandson of the company's founder, maintains the brand's contemporary edge by working with designers, decorators, and award-winning chefs such as Thomas Keller or Anne-Sophie Pic, who each bring their own touch of elegance and creativity to the forms and decorations of RAYNAUD porcelain.
