  • (1888PressRelease) July 14, 2010 - Being the first, 3 months ago, to propose the complete SFN/MISO feature to the German broadcast service provider, ENENSYS renewed its leading position by demonstrating a Multi-PLP over the air transmission during the Berlin plugfest. As for SFN/MISO, this demonstration was based on the ENENSYS DVB-T2 Gateway and the ENENSYS DVB-T2 Modulator completed with the ENENSYS T2-MI Analyser, DiviDual T2-MI.

This worldwide premier aimed at delivering on the same T2 multiplex, into different PLP, one High Definition MPEG-2 TS with one SD MPEG-2 TS containing 3 SD TV content. The HD stream was delivered within one PLP with lower robustness while the SD stream was carried over a second PLP using a quite higher robustness.

Michel Hello, Transmission Product Manager at ENENSYS, said: "ENENSYS is a key player on DVB-T2 market with a comprehensive and clear end-to-end portfolio. Getting SFN, MISO and now Multi-PLP in a very short time frame on Air to support the Berlin plugfest has been quite challenging and was made possible thanks to the cooperation between MEDIA BROADCAST and ENENSYS."

While the key benefit coming from the MISO-SFN is observed by less degradations in term of minimum receiver input power, Multi-PLP allows a wide range of business models. Broadcast operators can now differentiate on the same multiplex service offering based on the quality of services, mixing various kinds of services into the same T2 multiplex: SD and HD, TV and radio, national and regional services, fixed and mobile services. It opens a great deal of possible use cases.

Stefan Krueger, Head of Development and Platform Services of MEDIA BROADCAST, said: "Due to an outstanding collaboration with our partner, the live-transmission during the Multi-PLP plugfest in Berlin was quite a success and opened up a door for the future of digital terrestrial television. The reliable Multi-PLP components are compliant with the DVB-T2 standard and will offer new applications and business models for our clients and business partners in the media and broadcast industry."
