  • (1888PressRelease) March 23, 2016 - ElectraTherm, a leader in distributed, waste heat to power generation, shipped the Power+ Generator 4200 to a biogas facility in Germany, its third application in the country to utilize biogas to generate emission-free electricity. Slated for a spring 2016 commissioning, the site will use 100% of the heat to qualify for Germany's EEG technology bonus amounting to additional profit and a payback of less than two years.

ElectraTherm utilizes Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and proprietary technologies to generate power from low temperature heat between 77-122°C. Located in Grabsleben, Germany, the facility uses biogas to power a Jenbacher engine generating approximately 500kWe. The Power+ Generator will utilize the waste heat from the engine to produce clean electricity that will be sold back to the utility at an incentivized rate.

"ETS Economic Trading Solutions GmbH (ETS) is an independent partner, always looking for the best possible solution for every project," said Stefan Ochs, General Manager of ETS. "After careful due diligence, we found ElectraTherm to be the most-established, proven and reputable ORC on the market. And based on ElectraTherm's price and performance, they also offer the best return on investment. We see significant potential for future projects together in Germany."

ElectraTherm's Power+ Generator is available in three different sizes. The 4200 generates up to 35kWe, the 4400 generates up to 65kWe, and the 6500 is the largest size model generating up to 110kWe. ElectraTherm's Power+ Generators utilize waste heat on applications such as internal combustion engines, biomass, flare gas (at oil & gas wells, wastewater treatment plants and landfills) and geothermal/co-produced fluids. ElectraTherm's Power+ fleet surpassed 510,000 hours of runtime. A list of reference sites is currently available on the website.
