  • (1888PressRelease) October 02, 2013 - Chicago - Hundreds of higher education innovators from around the world will be heading to California in November to exchange ideas on ways to help more adults achieve college degrees and success, Pamela Tate, CEO and President of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) announced today. The event, CAEL's 2013 International Conference, "Destination Education: Charting a Course to Degree Completion," will be held Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 6-8, at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina in San Diego, CA, and will feature guest speakers, workshops, roundtable sessions, networking opportunities and social events.

    "For 35 years, CAEL has brought together over 500 participants-including college faculty and administrators, HR professionals, workforce developers and representatives from labor and government to work together to make degree completion a reality for adults," Tate added.

    Wednesday, guest speaker Jamie P. Merisotis, president and CEO of Lumina Foundation will deliver the opening keynote address; and Anthony P. Carnevale, director of the Georgetown University Center of Education and the Workforce, will speak at lunch. Wednesday afternoon a panel of experts will address the controversy surrounding MOOCs and Assessing Learning Outcomes.

    On Thursday, Paul LeBlanc, president of Southern New Hampshire University and chair of the CAEL Board will moderate a panel discussion on "Innovative Disruptions in High Education." Friday, Paul Fain, senior reporter for Inside Higher Ed will discuss "MOOCs and Competency Assessment: What's the Latest News" at the closing session.
