  • Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) September 08, 2011 - Ecotech Institute, the first and only college focused entirely on preparing America's workforce for careers in renewable energy and sustainable design, today announced that it is hosting an Eco-Expo on Saturday, September 24. This event is in conjunction with Moving Planet's worldwide rally to demand solutions to the climate crisis and for people across the world to mark one day together as the start to ridding our dependence on fossil fuels. Ecotech's Eco-Expo is free for the whole family and will give people the chance to learn about green technology and eco-friendly energy options. Several Denver-area business will be at the Expo demonstrating their latest technologies, including Boulder ElectroRide, makers of electric motorcycles, and Splendor Waterless Car Care, a water-free car wash system.

"So many people know they should take care of the environment, but sometimes the task seems too large, so they don't even start," said Glenn Wilson, Dean of Ecotech Institute. "This event is designed to help people learn some of the simple steps they can take so when they get home they can start making an impact right away."

In addition to green-living workshops, the Eco-Expo will demonstrate eco-friendly technology for home, business and personal use. Eco-friendly Denver-area food vendors will also provide food and drinks for purchase at the event.

Throughout the day, attendees can tour Ecotech Institute, a LEED-gold certified campus. Ecotech's Aurora campus, which opened in January 2011, is expected to produce more than 50,000-kilowatt hours of electricity each year through its on-site wind and solar technologies. Currently about 250 students attend Ecotech, with the first class graduating in July 2012.
