  • Durham, NC (1888PressRelease) July 29, 2011 - New blog, DurhamPetDig.com, has launched its "Home Fur a Pet" Campaign to get the Durham community's help to find Independent Animal Rescue's longest un-adopted dog, Watson, a permanent home.

The campaign will capitalize on most people's "want" to help rescued pets, but their inability to dedicate financial or time resources to the cause.

"I wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to help find Watson a home," Billy Fansler, owner of DurhamPetDig.com said. "Most people want to help homeless pets, but just don't have the time or money to donate to the cause."

The campaign consists of one pet, from one area shelter, on a video each month that can be easily shared through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Fansler is optimistic about the results that can come from simply spreading awareness in the community.
"With this campaign, we've made it very simple. To help, all you have to do is spread the word and share the video on a social media site with a couple clicks of your mouse from our site," Fansler said. "Eventually, the perfect family for that pet will see the video."

August's pet, Watson, is a pit bull/hound mix that was found wandering the streets of Durham over a year-and-a-half ago.
DurhamPetDig.com has posted a video on its website with an interview of Watson and his foster "mom", Robin Michael.
The goal of this campaign is to not only help find Watson a loving home," Fansler said, "but to also highlight the efforts of local rescues, their volunteers and to give the Durham community a vested interest in spreading awareness about rescued pets that need permanent homes."

DurhamPetDig.com was launched on July 25th. The site's three primary goals are to:
    1. Enhance the experience of owning a pet in Durham, NC
    2. Increase pet adoptions from area shelters
    3. Promote local Durham culture and businesses
