The honor was presented by Newport Beach & Company, a nonprofit overseeing the city's visitors and convention bureau Visit Newport Beach, at a recent ceremony held at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach. McDemas was recognized before some 250 guests for her unwavering friendliness and professionalism during her 20 years of service at the Dunes. She was nominated by employers in the hospitality industry and selected by the family of Rosalind Williams for "making the Newport Beach tourism industry so successful."

"Lori has been a vital member of Newport Dunes' staff for more than two decades," said Gary Sherwin, president and CEO of Newport Beach & Company. "She is very deserving of the award that continues Rosalind Williams' legacy of service, helping make Newport Beach a welcoming environment for locals and visitors alike."

The late Rosalind Williams was the president and CEO of the Newport Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau (now referred to as Visit Newport Beach) until she lost her battle with cancer more than a decade ago. The award that carries her name and legacy is presented annually.

We've been graced by her presence and look forward to working with her for many more years."

"I was totally surprised when my name was called as I had no idea that I was even being considered for this award," said McDemas. "I love my job and interacting with people who come from all over the world to visit Newport Dunes."
