  • (1888PressRelease) July 27, 2010 - Participation to IATA's program Simplifying the Business (StB) ensured transition of Domodedovo airport to BCBP technology - 2D bar coded boarding passes.

The purpose of the StB program is to cut costs by means of implementation of standards to be applied through the industry such as e-ticketing, RFID bag tagging and other innovations. Implementation of the program enables reduced time of check-in procedures and increased quality of passenger services while bar-coded boarding passes contain all the necessary data on a passenger.
2D bar coded boarding pass technology is believed to replace ATB2 magnetic stripe and will have been recognized as a world standard by the end of 2010.

As forecasted by IATA replacement of expensive and environment-unfriendly magnetic stripe boarding passes may save more than 1.5 billion US dollars annually.

BCBP has already been successfully implemented by more 220 airlines and 500 airports all over the world.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia. Its market share in total passenger traffic in Moscow makes 46%. At the moment 75 partner airlines (47 foreign including 12 representing the CIS States and 28 Russian) connecting over 230 destinations operate flights all over the world. The unique route network covered by Domodedovo partner airlines provides for 92 exclusive destinations. In 2009 18,7 million passengers benefited from Domodedovo services.
