  • (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2022 - VANCOUVER - GoDoggo, the technology company that connects dog lovers with dog-friendly businesses, parks, and information, has just released a guide to help Vancouverites find apartments that allow pets.

The guide can be bought online at godoggo.shop for $4.25 for the first 500 copies, with an incremental price increase as more copies are released.

The guide was created for frustrated renters who want to find a place that will accommodate their dog. For decades, Vancouver has had a competitive rental market, so it has been notoriously difficult for people with dogs to find suitable apartments. To add to the frustration, there is no other single resource that has all this information needed.

“We spent hours researching and collecting all the necessary information, so you don’t have to,” Aliya Bhatia, the Co-Founder of GoDoggo said. “We are extremely excited to launch this guide. It is a big step to help people feel good about every decision they make for their dogs.”

With this guide, people with dog companions can easily source and find pet-friendly apartments in Vancouver including details of each building, such as where the closest parks and enclosed grassy areas are as well as contact details for each building to set up viewings.

“We understand how hard it can be to source each building individually when searching for a place to live, and with a limited number of buildings in the Lower Mainland, we’re releasing a limited quantity of guides,” Aliya said.

The guide also includes information about the confusing Vancouver bylaws, understanding current and new dog owner tenant rights, tips from dog owners and professionals, and tips to help dog owners adjust to apartment living.

According to a study done by the Human Animal Bond Research Initiative there are around 150,000 dogs in Vancouver or about one third of every household has a dog. The same study shows that millennials are the most likely group to get a dog companion and the younger generation are also the most in need of dog-suitable housing.

In a 2018 report, advocacy organization Pets OK B.C. stated that even though more pet-friendly housing is being built, much of this housing stock remains inaccessible to middle-class renters.

This guide is just the first in a series of helpful books that will provide dog lovers useful and trustworthy information on all dog related matters.
