  • Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) November 07, 2013 - In today's society kids seem to pay more attention to their favorite entertainer than they do their own teachers and parents. What's worse is many of those same kids don't know the true meaning behind the holiday season. They are more focused on taking and receiving than about giving. For this reason one of the most influential and powerful DJs in the south, DJ Nasty, in association with SouthPromo.com, Bluehouse Consulting, WEDR 99 Jamz, Strong Arm IMG, Stars of Tomorrow Founation, and Epic Records have teamed up to host DJ Nasty's Oh Oh Oh Holiday Essay Contest & Classroom Takeover Party in South Florida.

This competition was created as a way to remind our South Florida youth of the importance of the holiday season and what it really represents. It is important for our children to understand the importance of giving back and being thankful for what they have, no matter how big or small.

The Oh Oh Oh Holiday Essay Contest is open to Broward and Miami-Dade county elementary school students in grades 3 thru 5 and will run from Monday, November 11 to Friday, December 6. The two questions that students will have to answer are (1) What are you thankful for this holiday season and why and (2) if you had special powers and could do anything special for someone anywhere in the world, what would you do, who would you do it for, and who would you do it?

Four students, two students from each county with the best essays will win an Oh Oh Oh Holiday Classroom Takeover Holiday Party that will include music, pizza, games, a surprise visit from Santa and a special celebrity guest. Each student in the winning child's class will receive a gift from Santa and will be given the opportunity to take a keepsake picture with him. There will also be a special surprise for the student who wrote the winning essay.

"I grew up in Miami-Dade and we weren't wealthy," says DJ Nasty. "My family struggled just like most people did, but I always knew how blessed I was. My mom made me volunteer all the time so that I could never forget my blessings. I learned at an early age the importance of paying it forward, and I want to pass that on to these kids."

This year's contest is just the kick off to many more to come.
