Digital Diversity Network Announces 2nd Annual Innovation and Inclusion Award Honorees

  • (1888PressRelease) October 05, 2017 - New York, NY - Digital Diversity Network (DDN) announced the 2017 honorees for their second annual “Innovation & Inclusion Awards” which will be hosted by Galvanize on Thursday, October 19 at their West Village offices (315 Hudson Street) from 6-9pm.

    The achievements of 16 diverse leaders in the innovation economy will be acknowledged and celebrated. This recognition is an effective and timely way of highlighting the underrepresented role models and the achievements of a diversity of people who are leading the Innovation Economy. The honorees span a spectrum of disciplines and industries and the awards will be conferred in five categories: Code Breakers, Change Agents, Culture Catalysts, Inventor/Innovators and Social Entrepreneurs.

The Innovation & Inclusion Awards not only celebrate the contributions of diverse professionals, but also serve as an inspiration to those who aspire to be a part of the industry.”

    In addition to the 16 honorees, two special recognitions, the Impact Award will be given to NBCNews.com’s Diversity Verticals: (NBC Asian America, NBCBLK, NBC Latino and NBC Out); and the Connector Award will jointly be given to Vicky Colf, Chief Technology Officer, Warner Bros. and Raymond Ealy, Executive Director & Founder, STEAM:CODERS.

    The event is expected to be attended by technology influencers, including key innovators, diversity and inclusion officers, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, leaders of corporate employee resource groups (ERGs), academics, executives, professionals and non-profit organization leaders.

    Nominations were open to the public June 13 through August 4, 2017. Honorees were selected by a panel of technology and digital executives. The response was robust and yielded a list of professionals from major corporations, start-ups, accelerators, non-profits and social venture firms.
