  • Omaha, NE-IA (1888PressRelease) February 26, 2011 - Since 2001, Dean Jacobs has traversed the globe spanning four years exploring over 50 countries on a low-budget adventure. This was propelled by a desire to understand the world we share. Creating photos became a part of the natural expression of these journeys.

This two hour workshop will review the basics ideas/concepts behind creating pleasing images. We will also discuss/explain various aspects of digital photography. Perfect for beginners who wish to understand that new camera from Christmas or those who wish to brush up on basic skills. This will be a hands-on, fun and inner active workshop, so please bring your camera and be ready to go on a short field trip.

Jacobs was born in Wahoo, Neb. When he was 5 years old, his family moved from a farm to Fremont, Neb. Growing up in the Midwest gave him an appreciation for the simple things in life. He graduated from Wayne State College (Nebraska) in 1986, earning a degree in Biology with minors in Earth Science and Art. Jacobs then was employed as the Assistant to the President at Wayne State College. Eventually Jacobs's career path led him to Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in 1989 where he was employed in sales/marketing for 10 years. His position with Pfizer was the National Dairy Specialist.

After a great deal of soul searching, Jacobs left the security of corporate America and decided to pursue other dreams. This was the beginning of a process that would lead to his first traveling adventure that spanned 22 ½ months and covered 28 countries. This journey can be followed in his successful book, Wondrous Journey.

In 2008/2009 Dean also did work for Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International.

Today, when Jacobs is not traveling, he keeps busy as a contributing newspaper columnist, photojournalist and keynote presenter across the country and internationally.
