  • Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) January 19, 2011 - In its annual awards recognizing the nation's safest moving fleets and van operators, the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA), which is the national trade association for the professional moving industry, bestowed the accolade of Super Van Operator 2010 upon Robert "Mike" Westfall of Bailey's Moving & Storage, an interstate agent for Allied Van Lines, Inc.

Each year, the AMSA distributes on a national level six Fleet Safety Awards in various categories, as well as only four awards for Super Van Operator: Lifetime Achievement, Special Commodities, Household Goods and Rookie of the Year. Super Van Operator Awards honor the movers and owners-operators who provide safety, reliability, and customer-focused moving and storage for residential relocation. Judging criteria include total miles, number of accidents, lifetime driving record, community involvement and equipment violations, among others.

Westfall began his tenure in the moving industry in 1979, when he joined Allied. In 1989, he became a "master mover," followed by the reception of numerous industry awards, including 30-Year Safe Driving Award, One Million Mile Award and Allied Van Lines Driver of the Year. Today, he works out of Englewood, Colorado - a metropolitan region of greater Denver - for Bailey's Moving & Storage and as a registered moving agent for Allied. To date, Westfall has successfully logged more than 2.8 million miles by moving residential customers and companies.

Said Allied President/CEO Kevin Beckstead of Westfall's recent achievement, "I have been in this industry for thirty years, during which time I have come to know hundreds of drivers. Most have been good, solid drivers; many have been exceptional. [Westfall] truly falls into a category even beyond exceptional. It is the passion for which so many of his customers express their praise that garners my attention. He spends the necessary time to ensure great moves, as well as extraordinary, memorable experiences for all customers."

Westfall will be recognized at a special awards ceremony in March 2011, along with other AMSA-recognized winners.
