Deadline Approaching for New LED Technology Licensing Applications

NREL has been meeting with potential licensees and will be closing the submission period for submitting a licensing application on February 10.
NREL is quickly closing the LED "green gap" with its newest patent-pending technology that will make it easier to manufacture low-cost Amber LEDs. NREL's Amber LEDs, when combined with red, green and blue LEDs, produce a broad-spectrum white light that is more efficient than current LEDs. The color-mixing approach avoids the energy loss associated with producing white light via conventional LEDs. This new technology will have an impact across multiple industries, including solid-state lighting, photovoltaics and lasers.
