Daddy-O's Retro Diner celebrates One-Year Anniversary with 1st Annual "Big Burger Bash"

  • San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) February 03, 2011 - San Diego's burger buffs and hot rod enthusiasts will all be found at one hot spot on February 12th: Daddy-O's, San Diego's 50's-60's themed retro diner serving a wide array of burgers, sandwiches and salads, is celebrating the One-Year Anniversary of its Point Loma restaurant with a "Big Burger Bash," featuring hot rods, family fun and "The Big One" burger contest.

    Popular for its charbroiled burgers, grilled sandwiches, loaded hot dogs and fresh salads, Daddy-O's is inviting customers, friends and families to the afternoon celebration, beginning at Noon and lasting till about 3 p.m., and watch the highly anticipated burger challenge.

    "The Big One" burger challenge will consist of five individuals, per round, competing to eat a two-pound burger topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon and a 10-inch bun, as quickly as possible.
    "Throughout the course of a year, since Daddy-O's first opened, 80 people have attempted to just finish "The Big One" burger, while only eight have successfully done so," said Dave Deakman, Owner of Daddy-O's. "We already have individuals signed up for the February 12th challenge and we anticipate many more curious and confident contenders to step-up and take it on."

    The speed-eating contest is $20 to enter with all participants receiving a Daddy-O's t-shirt for their efforts. The fastest burger-eater will go home with a $100 cash prize, in addition to other gift certificates.

    Adding to the day's festivities will be more than 20 pre-1971 hot rods will be parked and on display outside of the retro diner (with all hot rod drivers receiving a 20% discount on food and beverages that day).
