Creta Maris' Beach Awarded With A "Blue Flag"
The beach of Creta Maris Beach Resort was officially awarded with the blue flag for the year 2014 in an official ceremony held on Tuesday, July 15 on the beach of the resort.
- (1888PressRelease) July 18, 2014 - The criteria for obtaining this prize is the cleanliness of the sea and the coast, the organization of the coast, visitor's safety, the protection of nature and environmental awareness.
The Blue Flag-raising event attended the kindergarten of Hersonissos "Zouzounakia". The children initially were informed about ways someone can keep the coast and the sea clean and participated in a cleaning action of the beach. Then greeted the blue flag, which arrived by the sea and gave it to the mayor of Hersonissos, Mr. Doxastaki Zacharias - who honored the event with his presence - and Mr. Andreas Metaxas, Chief Executive Officer of the Group, who raised it up.
The event also attended representatives of the Coastal Guard, the Fire Department and Greek National Tourism Organization.
The Blue Flag is a voluntary eco-label awarded to more than 4000 beaches and marinas in 48 countries across Europe, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada and the Caribbean. The Blue Flag works towards sustainable development of beaches and marinas through strict criteria dealing with Water Quality, Environmental Education and Information, Environmental Management, and Safety and Other Services.
